B&O Railroad Park

Contour Construction delivered the Design-Build transformation of B&O Railroad Park in Frederick County, creating a public space that celebrates Brunswick’s railroad heritage while supporting its continued use as a community destination. Historic elements, including the commemorative bell and existing watchtower, were carefully integrated into the redevelopment, with the watchtower receiving a new observation deck that gives visitors a unique connection to the active railroad setting. Throughout the park, custom details and thoughtfully designed gathering areas reinforce the site’s history without sacrificing the functionality expected of a modern public space. The project also introduced flexible infrastructure to support farmers’ markets, food service, seasonal programming, and community events, expanding how the City can activate and utilize the property. Through a Design-Build approach, Contour brought preservation, constructability, and modern community use together in a cohesive destination. The completed park gives Brunswick a space that not only preserves an important part of its identity but also allows the community to experience that history as part of everyday life.
