Location: HQ in Frederick, Maryland- majority of work within the DC Metro / VA / MD areas.
Status: Full-time, Salary – with a structured commission program
About You: The Business Development Associate plays a vital role in driving sales and fostering business growth. This role involves conducting market research, developing business strategies, and establishing robust client relationships. The associate will identify new business opportunities, work on sales strategies, and maintain existing client relationships, contributing significantly to the company’s growth and reputation in the commercial construction industry.
Expectations | Responsibilities | Duties
- Manage Contour Construction’s sales strategy in alignment with company objectives, fostering sales expansion and client contentment.
- Foster ongoing client relationships to stimulate repeat business by conducting regular check-ins, hosting client events, and ensuring project execution surpasses expectations.
- Actively seek out and cultivate new leads through various prospecting methods, including cold outreach, canvassing, client referrals, and networking efforts.
- Familiarize yourself with Contour Construction’s unique competitive advantages and effectively communicate why clients should choose us.
- Develop and deliver persuasive face-to-face sales presentations to potential clients, showcasing a deep understanding of Contour Construction’s core strengths.
- Assess potential clients to ensure alignment with company standards and participate in offsite client meetings throughout all project phases to ensure client satisfaction.
- Share valuable professional insights with clients to proactively identify and address issues before they escalate.
- Collaborate with the Estimating team to explore innovative solutions and strategies to enhance our competitive edge in bid submissions.
- Attend pre-bid meetings for new opportunities and actively engage in weekly construction and marketing team meetings.
- Attend local planning and zoning meetings during evening hours.
- Attend local professional networking events regularly.
- Conduct comprehensive project closeout interviews with Project Managers and clients to identify potential future opportunities.
- Maintain and update CRM database regularly to uphold data accuracy and completeness.
Qualifications
- 2-3 years of experience in business development or client relations within the construction, architectural, engineering, or related industries, or as a supplier to these sectors.
- Proven track record in relationship building, leading to increased revenue opportunities with new and existing clients.
- Ability to effectively utilize pre-existing network of clients or contacts in the marketplace.
- Understanding of the construction or related industry.
- Demonstrated business acumen, including strong presentation, communication (both verbal and written), problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
- Capacity to maintain composure, professionalism, and objectivity in challenging situations, with the ability to resolve conflicts effectively.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- High school diploma or equivalent required, with preference for a college degree.
