Maxwell’s Kitchen

Contour Construction completed the tenant fit out for Maxwell’s Kitchen within a historic property in downtown Frederick, transforming the existing space into a modern fast casual restaurant while preserving the character of the original building. The design intentionally incorporated historic elements, including exposed original brick walls, allowing the building’s architecture to become an integral part of the restaurant’s identity. Modern finishes and restaurant infrastructure were carefully integrated within the constraints of the existing structure to create a cohesive environment without diminishing the features that make the property distinctive. Working within a historic downtown building required thoughtful coordination of existing conditions, new building systems, and the operational requirements of a contemporary food service concept. The result balances old and new, providing Eat Drink Management Group with a distinctive restaurant environment that supports efficient operations while creating an experience rooted in the character of downtown Frederick. Maxwell’s Kitchen demonstrates how strategic tenant improvements can leverage the authenticity of an existing property to strengthen both the space and the brand occupying it.
